Justin Bieber is no stranger to controversy, and even his pet cats have landed him in hot water with fans and activist groups. Here’s why Bieber’s $35,000 cats are so controversial and how the “Peaches” singer defended himself.  Justin Bieber | Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Justin Bieber spent $35,000 on his two part-exotic pet cats Singer Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber, spent $35,000 on two part-exotic pet cats. The famous couple bought the animals in the weeks leading up to their September 2019 wedding.  The Biebers reportedly bought the pair of Savannah breed cats, named Sushi and Tuna, from Illinois-based breeder Select Exotics (per CNN).   Select Exotics’ website says Savannah cats, also known as Sahara cats, are “a Serval/domestic feline cross” and “the largest hybrid cat available today.” The cats’ personalities are described as “bright, inventive, intelligent, even ingenious, playful, charming, and intensely energetic,” and even “dog-like.” They are “readily trainable, [and] most love to play fetch, ride in cars, and relish outdoor walks on a leash.” Bieber loved his Savannah cats so much that he gave them their very own Instagram account, although it hasn’t been updated since October 2019. information. August 2 If you didn’t have a home, would you give up your pet to move into a shelter? According to Pets of the Homeless, 5 to 10% of the U.S. unhoused population owns a pet, and other groups believe the percentage is even higher. Still, many homeless and domestic violence shelters across the country lack resources to provide adequate veterinary care or accommodations for pets, and don’t allow animals unless they’re service animals. “This is an important part of sheltering homeless individuals,” said Susan Riggs, senior director of housing policy for ASPCA. “Many of them will actually refuse emergency shelters in the event that their pet can’t come with them.” In a bid to get more unhoused people into shelter systems, a California bill could extend a 2019 program giving shelters funding for pet amenities and supplies like crates, leashes, food and veterinary care. Some shelters in California received grants under the 2019 program, the Pet Assistance and Support Program, which the state funded with $5 million in 2019 and $10 million in 2021. Senate Bill 513, introduced by state Sen. Robert Hertzberg, would make the support program permanent, ensuring shelters have the funds they need to continue accommodating.

Marriott, La Quinta, Holiday Inn, Econolodge, Sleep Inn, Best Western, and even the ubiquitous Motel 6. (At least, it was ubiquitous when I was in college … but that’s another story for another day.) At the same time, many smaller family-owned and boutique hotels are also jumping on the pets-allowed bandwagon, so you’re not forced to stay in a mass-market guest room in a city high rise unless you want to. Discovering which hotels and motels allow dogs is easy. There are close to a dozen websites geared especially toward traveling with pets. Just enter the name of the city you’re headed to, and they’ll come up with a list of accommodations that allow pets. Two of the biggest and most comprehensive sites are Dogfriendly.com and Petswelcome.com. Other worthy websites include Petfriendlytravel.com, Bringfido.com, Tripswithpets.com, Takeyourpet.com and Pettravel.com. Most of these sites allow you to search by type of lodging: hotel, motel, bed-and Many can also guide you to pet-friendly beaches and hiking trails, off-leash dog parks, dog-friendly events and attractions, as well as emergency vets. Another service that some of these sites offer is a list of qualified pet sitters. As much as you’d like to, you simply can’t take.

Fagan (Mount Dora, Florida) - Since becoming the owner of Shamrock Animal Hospital in 2016, Dr. Fagan and her team at Shamrock Animal Hospital have pursued a simple mission.  Do Great Work, Have Fun and Give Back.  Since 2019, Dr. Fagan has served as the Medical Director for Patriot Service Dogs, a nonprofit organization training service dogs for veterans.  PSD trains service dogs from 8 weeks until around 2 years of age and matches them with a disabled US Veteran at no cost.  By donating her time and resources, along with generous donations of products and services from veterinary industry partners, Dr. Fagan is able to provide all vaccinations, heartworm prevention, spay/neuter services at no cost to Patriot Service Dogs.  On some occasions, that might mean bringing multiple puppies to the office for vaccines, exams or other treatments that may be necessary.  She also speaks with the recipient veterans to go over the basic standards of care to keep the dogs healthy, productive and ready to work after they have been paired with a Patriot Service Dog. PSD completes a significant portion of training in the largest women’s prison in Florida.  The WOOF program allows incarcerated women to work with.

Dr. Logan goes above and beyond for these animals. He calls and texts foster families to provide continued care for sick or injured animals and gives advice and encouragement to the family members. Dr. Logan was instrumental in the design and layout of the multimillion-dollar upgrade to our shelter. He will oversee the whole surgical ward and perform required surgical intervention for the shelter animals, in the hopes to eventually open the clinic up to the animals even after they find their forever families. Dr. Logan has even made house calls on his own time to evaluate sick and/or pregnant dogs, pups, cats, and kittens. He is a humble man that does not want to.

away, because of Kayla and the trust I have in her, and I am so happy I did because the whole staff there is amazing. Frank Torres (Tucson, Arizona) - I am nominating veterinary technician Frank Torres from Desert Paws Mobile Veterinary Care. When I made my first appointment for my dogs, I was expecting a female technician to come with the veterinarian because the majority of technicians seem to be female (at least from my personal experience). Frank came into the house with the veterinarian, and I was nervous because my dogs can be very nervous. I needn’t have worried at all. Frank sat down and got some treats out and started just tossing them to my dogs since he could see they weren’t sure. Soon one of my dogs was hanging out near him and he was able to help the vet complete her exam with only gentle handling and yummy treats. He is gentle, knowledgeable and friendly; exactly what I needed to feel comfortable with the care my dogs were getting. Note when they have a vet appointment, my dogs know that they will be taken care of, and they know they will get some delicious snacks..
