This week, our number one pet is 3-year-old Norwegian Forest cat Galveston. Living with his owner Rebecca Emilie Koester in Garden Plain, Kansas, this feline is both cute and clever. Koester and Galveston started their journey together when Koester attended a cat show and met the couple who own his grandfather and father. A curious, playful and even-tempered breed, these fluffy felines have a reputation for getting on well with children, dogs and other cats. Galveston isn't just a master of cuteness, he also knows how to impress with tricks. Koester told Newsweek: "I started teaching him tricks when he was about 6 months old. He was in a cat show and a judge had a cat on the bench and got him to do a high five using a cat toy. Then she got Galveston to roll over. I realized I could do that with him."
Using toys and treats, she has taught the clever kitty to high five, shake hands, fist bump, double high five, lay down and roll over. But Koester's favorite thing about Galveston is his fearless nature. "He has to be right there investigating whatever the situation is," she explained. "I take him to the vet and camping trips on a leash and he isn't afraid of the dogs there.
